Winter (1)
white snow on the ground This was inspired by a photo I took last December in my local park after a heavy snowfall. Whenever I look at the photo I can feel the ache of cold in my toes, the sunlight on my face and I hear the snow crunch under my shoes.
at the end of life
How fast things become familiar It doesn't seem long since I came Yet the sights that were once so different Nowadays seem all the same The same old rows of houses The same old boring books The same old rooms and buildings The same old friendly looks How fast things become a memory It won't be long till I go And the sights that are now so familiar Will be sights I once used to know
Will we remember, when we're gone The times we've had The things we've done Will we find the time to speak As we fill Each passing week As we start our new careers With each new week With each new year Will we start to drift away Become a piece Of yesterday Will I just be a Christmas card (I meant to write but work's been hard) Will I wonder, now and then Where you are How you've been Will you be someone I once knew Because of things I used to do? Until now I saw only half the world Until now
How have I never realised?
Vision is sharper Because of you
All it took
And I awake this morning to find my world is upgraded
In ten years time come round to dinner So we can talk about our life By then we'll probably both be married So you can bring your wife Don't forget to bring snaps of your kids By then you'll have at least three I'll have two, a boy and a girl Who look like him and me We'll look back on the good old days The things we got up to then! What about the time that we.... Do you remember when....? And then we'll think how far we've come You'll say "Well I never, I bet you didn't imagine this Back when we lived together"
