UNQUIET DESPERATION
"If you're reading this on Poetry Life and Times, it's probably safe to
say that you love poetry, and writing in general. So do we. Thing is,
we happy few know where to get our lit-fix, but not everyone does.
That's why we started Unquiet Desperation: to let those unaware into our
glittering little secret.

Truth? Truth is that which, when this tale of sound and fury we stumble
through has quietened for a moment, flares back to the front of our
minds with the chill of bitter clarity... Consider those worthless
things we do every day to distract ourselves, to stop ourselves
dwelling on what in the end we know we must face; those shadows that
dog our every step, that we wrestle only for them to dissolve before
us... they are truth.

distance by Jared Booth
Distance disappears
When you pick up the phone
And through the gaps
And the cracks
In the fuzzy-headed line
I see your smile
Just a daydream away -
But every time you hang up
A daydream's as long as the day
Round here there's nothing to do
Old men fill the treetops, and the
Kids all look a little old to me.
All I think about is you.
My fingers were like spiders
You let sleep in your hair
And the walls were just like
waterfalls -
They weren't really there.
I forgot about time
And we were late everywhere.
And sometimes I see a rainbow
Taking steps across the ocean
And leaving sparkling silver
footprints
On the waves.
So it seems that time
Means nothing to us
Criss-crossing letters
Clear the roads of rust
That's all I know of distance
The sweet things it does.

Unquiet Desperation
is an underground poetry mag designed to
appeal to those not fixated on poetry and prose, but also catering for
the hardened word-junkies. Going out in bars, cafes, pubs and
bookshops, it's a print mag distributed in various fortunate locations
around theworld, accepting contributions from everyone that knows their own harmonic,
unique voice has to be heard.
If you'd like to look at the type of work we've printed so far, stuff from back issues is posted on our website (add us if you're signed up to MySpace), or we can post you a print copy if you eMail us your address.
Be sure to send us your thoughts on what you see, or
better still send us your art so we can get it out the people that need
it most... those not blessed with our addiction to poetry.
Who I'd like to meet:
Poets, writers, artists, rebels, philosophers, hermits, ascetics,
visionaries... the list of who we'd like to meet goes on and on. If
you're interested in art or writing or life, get in touch or ask to be
our friend... though doing both is better.
Also, as we've said above, if you'd like a print copy of
Unquiet Desperation to call your very own, you can
message us about that too.
